Our story is my story.

My name is Jason Jeffers, founder of GARDEN GOLD ORGANICS. This is me in my test garden:

For over 30 years, organic and sustainable gardening has been a core guiding principle in my life, rooted in a profound sense of social responsibility for the Earth. This means actively nurturing soil and biodiversity, conserving water, reducing runoff and contamination, avoiding harmful chemicals, and ensuring a healthy planet for future generations.

This dedication inevitably led me to scrutinize available fertilisers. My dissatisfaction with most consumer liquid organic fertilisers, often vinasse-based with high salt content (up to 2%), or animal byproducts that can smell and attract pests, sparked the origin of GARDEN GOLD ORGANICS in 2018. I knew I needed to create a superior, high-performance fertiliser for my own houseplants, garden, and particularly my beloved chile peppers and share it with other, like-minded gardeners.

My First Directive – Simplicity:

Maintaining simplicity has always been my primary focus. I wanted efficient fertilisation with minimal effort, avoiding the extra work of manual amendments such as digging in manure or the extra cost of specialized products. My simple solution involves no-dig gardening: only applying copious amounts of high-quality compost early in the season (pre-planting). As compost is generally insufficient for all plant nutritional needs and serves primarily as a soil enhancer and source of carbon, the simplest way to boost soil fertility is to incorporate organic liquid fertilisers into my normal watering schedule—applied via watering cans or an adjustable garden sprayer.

This led to key questions about ideal liquid fertiliser formulations, universal nutrient values, and suitable plant-based ingredients. Inexpensive vinasse wasn't an option, so my comprehensive, seven years long research into creating a superior fertiliser began. Despite my chemistry and physics background, there was much to learn.

Crafting Nutrient Profiles:

I began by extensively researching plant biology and academic articles to determine target NPK values for the distinct plant categories of houseplants, garden plants, and heavy-feeders such as tomatoes, chiles, brassicas and cruciferous vegetables. Then I focused on balancing the essential micronutrients (calcium/magnesium, sulphur, zinc, boron, etc.), resulting in precise nutrient profiles for each category.

Ingredients:

Armed with these profiles, identifying suitable organic, plant-based ingredients was key. My solution was to use professional-grade plant extracts and hydrolysates, typically unavailable to consumers. These purified, water-soluble elements (NPK, minerals, amino acids) mimic natural soil processes, readily feeding plants and soil bacteria.

The added benefit of this approach was that it eliminated the need for separate growth and blooming/fruiting fertilisers. Organic nitrogen's slow release aligns with plant development, and natural chelators hold the other nutrients in the soil ensuring sustained nutrient availability. Another step towards simplicity and efficiency.

To match the nutrient profiles, each product contains at least 10% each of seaweed extract and amino acids. I also incorporated 0.5% Silicon Dioxide (SiO2) for plant rigidity and Betaine to increase tolerance to various stresses such as drought, heat, cold, salinity, and pest/disease attacks. Humic and fulvic acids act as chelators, retaining nutrients within the soil matrix and thereby reducing runoff or leaching. Additionally, I specially created my Sea-Prime seaweed stimulant formula with 24% seaweed, 20% amino acids, and added iron to offer a significant boost for all plant types, especially for leafy greens and lawns.

How I Feed My Plants:

GARDEN GOLD fertilisers are mixed with water and applied to the soil or as a foliar spray. Foliar feeding ensures immediate leaf absorption, while soil application benefits the soil biome. I practice and recommend alternating both methods for comprehensive plant nutrition, offering the best of both worlds.

Quality and EU regulation conformity have always been top priorities. All products are:

I am extremely happy with the fruits of this seven-year odyssey. And as a testament to the quality of my products, I personally use GARDEN GOLD fertilisers in my own test garden, on my terrace, and for my houseplants, consistently achieving exceptional results. This is the "good stuff".
